Working with your spouse can be one of the best things that you have ever done. Since you are already comfortable with your spouse, hopefully, having a home based business with them may be the best way to go. Strangers may not may good employees and you may be uncomfortable having them come into your home to work. However, deciding to have your spouse as your partner in a business venture is a huge step. You want to be sure that this decision does not interfere with the marriage.
The first thing to do is envision yourself working side by side with your spouse. How does that feel to you? If the two of you have a good partnership in the marriage it could be a good fit. However, if things are often tumultuous on the marriage front you may want to rethink the joint work venture. This can work if you are okay with running the brunt of the business while they just help out.
Draw up a business plan and get some feedback from a professional. Are your goals realistic or are your dreaming too much? Keep things in perspective and you will have a better chance of having success running the business with your spouse. No matter how strong the marriage is, you want to be sure that everyone is one the same page and that the business plan that you two have is something that is doable.
Figure out what your role will be and what your spouse will be doing. This is a good way to set clear expectations so that both of your know what is expected. Of course your roles will have to be flexible because of the unpredictable nature of business. You just never know what can come up, but for the most part you will need to be able adjust to the changing climate of the business.
It is essential that the two of you communicate with one another. Don’t hold back when you have an idea or concern. Let your spouse know exactly what you have in mind. This will help to eliminate many of the problems that can come up when spouses run home based businesses together.

One first step is to check out the resources at www.business.gov. Business.gov is managed by the Small Business Administration, along with 21 other federal agencies. It’s a partnership, dubbed Business Gateway, that “provides a single access point to government services and information” to help businesses.
As Business.gov notes, Apple Computer, Hershey Chocolate, Mary Kay Cosmetics and Ford Motor Company all started out as home-based businesses. And at one point or another, they all needed financing or financing information. In addition, the site also “provides resources that will help you learn more about working out of your house, starting a home-based business, and managing your business within the law.”
Something you may not know is that the federal, state and local governments often provide access to a variety of financing programs to help small businesses, especially those that cannot qualify for traditional small business loans, such as home businesses. Business.gov has a loan and grants search tool to match financing programs with your business.
The government, whether it is federal or state, does not make the financing agreements directly with business owners. What they do is provide a guarantee to banks and lenders for money they lend to small businesses. This reduces the banks’ risk, and that allows financial institutions to make such loans with a degree of confidence.
Business.gov suggests starting with local institutions and local nonprofits.
As with anything, you have to be careful of scams and disreputable lenders. This is especially the case in this tough financial market, when loans of any kind are more and more difficult to obtain. Desperation creates a fertile ground for unscrupulous lenders and scam artists.
Here are some things to be wary of: If a company demands any kind of “membership fee,” this is a red light that this lender should be avoided.
Even if you’ve gotten rejected time and time again, avoid the temptation to get a loan for an interest rate that is significantly higher than the going rate. On the other hand, you should also be wary of is someone offering a lot of money for a ridiculously attractive rate. Chances are they’re after something other than lending you money. Never get a loan from anyone who requires even the smallest “investment” in another company. There are too many legitimate lenders out there to fall in with a bad lot. While all loans do require certain fees be paid, be wary of any lender that requires large fees, in the range of thousands. According to www.allbusiness.com, these phony brokers promise low rates and instant approvals when what they really want is your bank information and social security number for an identity-theft scam.
Always listen to your gut instincts, and if you cannot do that, give the Better Business Bureau a call.

It does not matter if you are an experienced or novice business person, a small business will be a new journey. One of the major concerns is time management. Often when people start up home based businesses they underestimate the need for time management. The thought process is that you can do work whenever you want to so a schedule is not necessary. If you don’t have a pleasant place to work then you will not be encouraged to go to your office and work. Small businesses are seeing increased opportunity. As the large corporations crumble, people are turning to small businesses that offer more personalize service. First,you must have a strong WHY.
Why MUST you have a successful home business?
What is driving you? What is it that you CAN'T have in your life anymore and/or
what is it that you absolutely MUST HAVE now?
For me, I couldn't stand
working 12+ hours a day anymore and missing the experience of my children growing
up. I also absolutely HAD TO HAVE the freedom of being able to control
my life and finances through a little box (laptop computer) that I
could carry with me anywhere in the world and not be tied to anyone's
time pressures or demands but my own. That was my carrot and my stick.
I felt a great pain deep in my gut of missing out on my children's
lives and the incredible freedom that succeeding in a home based business
would provide for me. I found my why. You MUST find yours.

You
must BELIEVE that it is possible.
If
you don't believe that it's POSSIBLE for you to have a successful home based
business or make your living from home, you won't. It's that simple.
For me, figuring out that it was possible was just a matter of realizing
